JOHN STANLEY

DIRECTOR OF MUSIC MINISTRIES

John Stanley is a pianist, singer, actor and songwriter who is originally from Richmond, Va. He currently resides in New York City. He attended Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland as a Music Major under the Direction of Nathan Carter.

    John’s church experience is vast. He has served as minister of music at  All Saints Catholic Church in Harlem for 10 years. He has also served as a staff  Musician and Choir Director for New Shiloh Baptist church in Baltimore, Maryland Harold Carter pastor at that time and also staff Musician at Pilgrim Cathedral Of Harlem. Currently , John Directs The East Coast Inspirational Singers; a group of industry professionals who’s background includes Broadway and back up singing for major artists.

    John has starred in the touring musical “A Good Man is Hard to Find” as well as performed in “Mom’s Mabley”, God’s Trombones, Lost in the Stars, I need a Man and Black Nativity.

    John as made numerous television appearances. Examples of his various appearances are: Oprah, The Sinbad Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Wendy Williams, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, Rosanne Barr, The Ru Paul Show (VH-1), Regis and Kathy Lee, The View, BET Honors, David Foster and Friends, The Harry Show, Good Morning America, The Today Show and many others. He was also the Musical/ Choir Director who worked with The Patti LaBelle Choir on NBC’s “Clash of the Choirs” and Has performed on Bobby Jones as a solo artist promoting his self written and produced track from his debut CD “ Alright”.

   An extraordinarily gifted pianist and vocalist, John has performed with a multitude of music industry artists, from the smooth sounds of Luther Vandross, the chart topping Mariah Carey, to the timeless voice of Barbra Streisand. Other notable artist he has performed with are Stephanie Mills, Freddie JacksonChaka KhanLedisiGerald Levert, Ashford and Simpson, Regina Bell, Angie Stone, Take 6, Donnie McClurkin , Richard Smallwood, Mary Mary, Yolanda Adams, Jennifer Hudson, and Josh Groban.

   Mr. Stanley is not limited to Rhythm and Blues or Gospel, but has a rich history in Country Music, as well as Classical Music. He has performed with the Cleveland, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles Symphony Orchestras amongst others.

   John’s musical travels have taken him around the world including Canada, the Caribbean, Africa, Australia, Europe and South America.

 John Stanley was the Musical Director for singing Icon Patti LaBelle with whom he worked for 25 years. He has performed around the world with Patti including a Television performance for Elizabeth Taylor and Michael Jackson, A BET Honors tribute to Queen Latifah, The Labelle Reunion Concert at The Apollo and at the Inauguration of our President, Barack Obama. John was a major contributor to her CD One Night Only/ Live on Broadway for which Patti won a Grammy award for in the year 2000.
