Our Immigration Outreach Continues
An Update From Reunite Us Now-NYC
The recent interfaith Blessing of the Children in honor of Mother Cabrini was a huge success, with over 150 guests which included immigrant kids and foster parents from Cayuga Centers, Little Sisters of the Assumption Family Health Services, and Catholic Guardian Services. Witnessing the joy in the children's faces as they enjoyed pizza and games in our parish hall reinforced our commitment to continue our local outreach to immigrants.
Since forming in June, we've advocated for the reunification of the 300+ children that were separated from their parents at the southern US border and sent to NYC. Having learned from our partners in the community that all these families have in fact been reunited, we have now shifted our focus onto the influx of undocumented minors who continue to be sent to NYC. If you'd like to get involved, please e-mail: email@example.com

C’mon Downstairs for Coffee + Donuts + fellowship
With three masses on Sunday, we realized our fellowship upstairs was often getting cut short, so we’ve moved coffee + donuts downstairs into our newly renovated parish hall.
Along with this move comes a reimagining of what our Sunday fellowship should be. To that end, we’re currently working on wiring the parish hall for both wifi and sound so that you can easily check in on social media and catch up on our posts while listening to cool tunes. And best of all, we’ll soon outfit an area with TEN NEW CAFÉ TABLES and rugs so that we can plan more casual social events downstairs. Stay tuned for the grand opening of Frank’s Café! ☕🍩🙏🎤

connecting sfds parents online
Trust us, we know how busy our young families are. Which is why we’ve created two online resources that we hope will make your lives a little bit easier and allow you to connect with each other more easily!
Visit our Religious Ed page at www.sfdsnyc.org/2018-2019 for reminders & schedules from Jayne and Jim for the upcoming week, photo galleries of our activities, and the yearly schedule.
Be sure to join our newly created private Facebook group for SFDS Parents where we’ll share announcements relevant to families, Catholic-inspired content especially for parents, and best of all you can communicate with each other. We hope this becomes a strong faith-based community hub for our parishioners with kids.
A FATHER KELLY RECOMMENDATION
In case you missed this on our Facebook page, here’s a wonderful article from America that perfectly encapsulates the sort of parish we strive to be: A NOISY ONE! Pope Francis recently called on youth to “make more noise.” Where there is noise, there is joy and energy and activity. And if you are making noise, you’ll likely feel more comfortable to smile at a fellow parishioner, make thoughtful suggestions to help our parish grow, and grow within our SFDS Family.
news from the archdiocese of ny
Transparency, Accountability, and Action
The Archdiocese of NY shared this overview of their response to the sexual abuse of minors and vulnerable adults. In it, they outline in English and Spanish how oversight and transparency have been implemented; the steps they’ve taken since the 2002 Bishops Charter on the Protection of Children and Young People was adopted; and words from Cardinal Dolan.
