jim stayton

Music Director / composer-conductor

Throughout his musical career, Jim Stayton has worked in the fields of music performance, production, education, administration, and composition.  He is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University from which he earned a bachelor's in Choral Conducting and a master's in Composition. While at FAU, Jim was awarded the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters Graduate Scholarship and he worked as their Associate Director for the Women’s Chorus and Vocal Jazz Ensemble. 

Jim released Looking Up in 2003 followed by contributions to the compilation CD ProJect Life. His music has been spotlighted on TV’s History Channel documentaries and his Mass of Joyful Hope has been performed in the US, Canada, and Germany.  Additionally, Jim directs the community-based fifty voice "Harmony Singers of Wayne" chorus.

JAMAAL CLARK TURPIN

Broadway Singer / Performer

Jamaal Clark Turpin, a graduate of The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, has travelled all over North America and Europe with many musicals and operas throughout his artistic career. His current focus is developing new musical projects here in NYC.

As a child, Jamal joined his church youth choir and picked up the the alto sax in the school band that same year—thus began his obsession with music. Fast forward to now, when Jamaal counts serving as a Worship Leader at St. Francis de Sales as one of his favorite opportunities to date—especially because he gets the opportunity to worship with our amazing parish every week!

 

 

SHALEAH ADKISSON

Singer / Actress / Teaching Artist

Shaleah Adkisson is a singer, actress and teaching artist living in New York City. She’s been seen on Broadway and on tour in Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical and off-Broadway in Rent, as well as in regional productions including Clybourne Park, Avenue Q, The Hot Mikado, Beehive: The 60's Musical, Ain't Misbehavin, Grease, Nunsense, and Children of Eden.

When not working in the theatre, Shaleah works as an administrator and teaching artist with the Bridge Arts Ensemble, an organization of freelance musicians catering to school districts in upstate New York. Additionally, she performs in NYC and on tour with Soul Picnic Productions (Back to the Garden  and August 1969: A Tribute to the Women of Woodstock).

kathleen kilbane

singer / music & Religion Teacher

Kathleen Kilbane has over twenty years of experience leading music for Catholic parishes. She has sung in East Coast churches from South Carolina to Massachusetts as well as in Italy and her native Ohio. In New York City, she has served as Cantor at masses in many churches, including St. Patrick’s Cathedral.  

After performing in musical theater and light opera throughout the Northeast, Kathleen turned her focus to music education. She holds certifications in Orff (Boston University) and Kodály (New York University) methods, as well as a bachelor's from Smith College and a master's of music from the New England Conservatory.

Currently, Kathleen teaches music and Catholic religion at The Caedmon School. In addition to  serving on the music ministry team here at St. Francis, she also directs the Spanish music ministry at Holy Cross-St. John the Baptist in midtown Manhattan.

gregory keith lathan

singer / music minister 

A Washington, D.C. native, music has been Gregory Keith Lathan's life from the start. Surrounded by his family's wide range of musical interests, Gregory started singing and studying piano at the age of 5.

In addition to a myriad of professional credits, Gregory has worked with many church-affiliated choirs. He served as Asst. Music Director at Holy Family Catholic Church in Temple Hills, Maryland and spent thirteen years as Music Minister/Choir Director of St. Charles Borromeo/Resurrection Chapel in Harlem where he created a full Mass in his own classical and jazz-infused style.

Gregory heads his own music company, gregariousMUSIC, which launched his second vocal group, Lathan’s Way, a quartet swinging with luscious harmonic versions of Jazz, Soul, Pop, R&B and Gospel/Funk. The musical journey continues.
