WEEKLY LENT MEDITATION

by Jayne Porcelli

Week of March 18, 2019

Creator God,

You who made all the stars in the heavens and call us to be your own sons and daughters: As we move forward into our second week of Lent, help us hold fast to the promises we've made. Pour your grace upon us and sanctify our hearts so that, as you revealed yourself on the mount of transfiguration, we may find you in the quiet moments of our week. Open our eyes Lord, that we may see you in all we meet today and this week. Amen.

ALMSGIVING

Give alms...Pray to your Father...Fast without a gloomy face...
— Matthew 6:1-18

the three disciplines of Lent:

Prayer
fasting
almsgiving

In addition to accompanying each other throughout the Lenten season, we invite you to prayerfully consider what “almsgiving” might mean to you this Lent. Whether it’s signing up to give regularly online (so easy, just set it + forget it! 🙏) or making an additional one-time pledge, we urge you to partake in each aspect of the Lent experience as Jesus called upon us to do.
