WEEKLY LENT MEDITATION

by Jayne Porcelli

holy week

O God of Tender Compassion,

Hear our prayers this week as we recall these most solemn days. At the Last Supper you model for us what humble service looks like. In your death you teach us your immense love for us. Your resurrection gives us hope to believe in an eternity in your presence. Grant us during these holy days a heart open to hear your invitation to grow more deeply as your disciples in our world today. Thank you for the gifts of this Lent. May we come to our Easter celebrations filled with the wonder of new life in you. We remember too, our friends Michael, Michelle, and Michael as they prepare to join us through the waters of baptism at our Easter Vigil. Hold them, and all of us, close in your loving embrace. Amen!

semana santa

ALMSGIVING

Give alms...Pray to your Father...Fast without a gloomy face...
— Matthew 6:1-18

the three disciplines of Lent:

Prayer
fasting
almsgiving

In addition to accompanying each other throughout the Lenten season, we invite you to prayerfully consider what “almsgiving” might mean to you this Lent. Whether it’s signing up to give regularly online (so easy, just set it + forget it! 🙏) or making an additional one-time pledge, we urge you to partake in each aspect of the Lent experience as Jesus called upon us to do.
