"Church" consists of more than a priest or a building or a prayer. A healthy church is built upon the efforts its parishioners dedicate to fellowship and community-building.
Whether you're a teen or young adult, bookworm or athlete, we've got a group for you! Are you looking for an inclusive safe space? We've got a group for you! ¿Prefieres orar en español? ¡Tenemos un grupo para ti!
(If you can't already tell, we're all about our ministry groups...come find out why!)
gay straight catholic alliance
The Gay Straight Catholic Alliance at SFDS is an organized program for Catholic members of the LGBTQIA community to assemble, work together, and support each other. The word Catholic after all means universal. We gather regularly in service to our broader community, spiritually and socially.
20's & 30's group
As the largest growing group in the parish, we aim to provide a special welcome to young adult parishioners looking for a church to call home in a busy neighborhood. We participate in the life of the parish in many ways, including organizing our own events and collaborating with other parish groups around social and service opportunities.
Our purpose is to delve deeper into our Catholic beliefs by reading books about spirituality. We welcome thoughtful discussion and critical thinking to our faith(and wine) fueled monthly meetings!
For youth in grades 7-12
Are you looking for a way to be social at church? Do you want to explore how your faith can relate to everyday life? We follow the example Jesus set by inviting all to his table. You can expect great company, delicious snacks, and interesting conversations about the topics you care about in addition to quiet time for reflection. The Table is a safe space for discussion and fellowship!
La Virgen de Guadalupe es celebrada por este grupo que busca compartir su espíritu con nuestra comunidad de fe.
The Virgin of Guadalupe is celebrated by this group which aims to share her spirit with our faith community.
We are a small group who love the Lord—and love to study and share His word! Utilizing the Little Rock Study Guide as our model, we've studied Acts and the gospels of John and Matthew in the past. Several members of our scripture study group have completed the New York Catholic Bible School program, a blessing which adds to the richness of our inquiry.
We meet on the third Monday of the month from 6:30PM until 8:00PM in the Rectory. Currently we are studying the Book of Exodus.
St. Francis de Sales Softball Team
Come softball season (March-July), we turn into the most active group in the parish! Each year, over a dozen of our sports-loving parishioners come together to glorify God on the ball field. Are you ready to go to bat for SFdS?
