Estamos buscando a un(a) cantante profesional para la misa dominical en español a las 12:30PM. Somos una comunidad animada, joven y acogedora, y hacemos buen uso de varios géneros de la música litúrgica, en particular el gospel y la alabanza y adoración. Invitamos tanto a los hombres como a las mujeres a solicitar el empleo, y preferimos a una persona bilingüe (en español e inglés).

RESPONSABILIDADES
El/La cantante:

  • Rendirá cuentas directamente al director de los ministerios de música

  • Preparará toda la música antes de cada misa con el objetivo de dirigir a la congregación de manera eficiente

  • No debe asistir a los ensayos semanales pero le animamos a que lo haga

  • Debe demonstrar elevada capacidad musical y habilidad para improvisar

  • Debe saber cantar varios géneros musicales

  • Debe vestirse apropiadamente para dirigir una experiencia de alabanza

  • Debe alimentar el bien general de los ministerios de música y de la comunidad parroquial asistiendo a los eventos importantes de la parroquia

  • Debe estar disponible para los días de obligación y para diversas misas especiales, incluyendo Nochebuena, Navidad, la Semana Santa (jueves y viernes santos, Vigilia Pascual y Domingo de la Resurrección) y ciertas celebraciones de los sacramentos

  • Recibirá la prioridad como cantante en relación a los funerales y las bodas

A menos que se decida otra cosa, el/la cantante recibirá su sueldo en el día del servicio. Los cantantes serán "contratistas independientes." El estipendio para los "servicios especiales," o sea aquellos servicios que no serán ni la misa dominical a las 12:30 ni los días santos, se acordará separadamente el/la cantante, el director de los ministerios de música y el párroco.

SUELDO
El sueldo por misa (de domingo o de los días santos) será $100.

We are looking for a professional cantor for our 12:30PM Spanish Mass on Sundays. We are a vibrant, young and welcoming community that makes use of various styles of liturgical music, in particular gospel and praise and worship. Both men and women are invited to apply, and we prefer a bilingual speaker (English and Spanish).

RESPONSIBILITIES
The cantor:

  • Will report directly to the director of music ministries

  • Will master the music for each Mass so as to be able to lead the congregation effectively

  • Is encouraged to attend weekly rehearsals on Tuesdays (although this is not required)

  • Must display a strong musical ability, including improvisational skills

  • Must be able to sing a variety of genres

  • Must dress appropriately to lead a worship experience

  • Must foster the overall good of the music ministries and the parish community by being present at important parish events

  • Must be available for Holy Days of Obligation and special Masses, including Christmas Eve/Day, Holy Week (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil and Resurrection Sunday) and certain celebrations of the Sacraments

  • Will be given priority as cantor for funerals and weddings.

Unless otherwise stated, the cantor will receive payment on the day of his/her service. Cantors are compensated as "independent contractors." Compensation for "special services," i.e. outside the 12:30PM Mass and Holy Days, will be agreed upon separately by the cantor, the director of music ministries and the pastor.

STIPEND
The stipend per Mass (Sunday or Holy Days) is $100.

INTERNSHIPS

St. Francis de Sales offers three internship cycles: Fall (September-December), Spring (January-April), and Summer (May-August) located at our parish office at 135 East 96th Street. We prefer two days/week, but are flexible with the exact schedule. Internships are unpaid.

 

COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

This internship will give you plenty of hands-on experience in advocacy and digital marketing. The communications intern will have two main duties. First, they will assist in creating a dynamic social media presence, produce multimedia material, and manage web content. Second, they will research social justice issues online with the purpose of sharing relevant information through our social media channels and assisting current ministries with their work. If you want to work on something specific, or learn particular new skills, we can get that in. You’ll report to Lydia Serrano, Digital Ministry Coordinator.

Qualifications:

  • Comfort with social media

  • Excellent grammar and copyediting skills

  • Organized and self-motivated

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop and InDesign a plus
