The body is a unit, though it is comprised of many parts. And although its parts are many, they all form one body. So it is with Christ.
— 1 Corinthians 12:12

This verse from the New Testament sums up well the promise and challenges facing the Catholic Church today.

The decline in priestly ordinations and religious sisters has given new urgency to the need for faithful laypersons to step up and take part in church life. Indeed, the body, comprised of many parts, needs continual care and nourishment to thrive and grow.

It was for this reason in 2016 that our pastor, Fr. Kelly, had the foresight to create a Parish Pastoral Council for St. Francis de Sales. The council, comprised of 6-9 parishioners and staff members, assists the pastor in all aspects of parish life, including ministries and parish activities and events.

These include religious education, liturgy, social justice and charitable outreach, youth and young adults, marriage and family life, community building, and much more.

As an example, the Parish Council was actively engaged in our recent Renew & Rebuild fundraising campaign. We are pleased to report that we exceeded our pledge goal and are now accruing funds which will be used to pay for numerous capital projects needed to restore, beautify and preserve our church.

The pastoral council has an advisory role to the pastor that contributes to the spiritual growth of our community. If you would like to learn more about the St. Francis Parish Pastoral Council you can read our charter here. As we are a bilingual parish, find a Spanish version of the charter here.

The council is continually looking for parishioners who are willing to give of their time and talent to the future of our spiritual community. For more information please contact Tim Keeley at: TimothyKeeley@gmail.com
